Procrastination = watching Redemption part 1 and 2

So because it seems my subconscious really doesn’t want to be behaving like an adult and studying (I’m so close to actually be able to print my notes and start just learning them! one question left!), I had the irresistible urge to watch Redemption, because that’s the second time McKay appears in SG1. And I want some new McKay, which means some young McKay. It’ll be weird to be watching some old SG-1, without Daniel… I barely know the season 6 eps, although I like some of them.

Also, because my mind is warped, my plan of “watching Stargate only during meals” backfires – I just eat more, to be able to watch more TV.

Warning, this is long! (And probably boring, but hey, I wrote these comments for fun, not for anyone!)

- There’s a “code red” that you can send by your IDC? That’s one useful thing that you don’t see often in stories. That, and the fact that someone’s waiting at the foot of the gate to take your weapon from you!

- Oh, Jonas. I hate that you replaced Daniel, but how I love you. Weather man, bananas, so much fun to be had with you! Plus, I should be learning from his eating habits.

- Aww, Sam looks so sad to see Jonas in Daniel’s office… I’m actually surprised Daniel had a tv in his office, and a stereo. I suppose that’s Jonas’ acquisitions!

- HAHAHAHAH, “how do I know what colour to wear?” “we call each other every morning!”. I love that line. I always wondered myself! :D

- I think what I love about Jonas is how fresh-eyed he is, how everything looks cool to him. You know, he was squeeing over the Weather Channel. Of course, then we get Mitchell who does the same thing. Both are replacing someone else. Hmmm… but I still like Mitchell better since Jack is still there, just not… there. Whereas Jonas replaces Daniel who’s not there, at all, so it’s harder to accept him.

- Teal’c’s face at the ship, and his little handwave? Priceless.

- I’m so confused about the ships. X-301? X-302? X-303? Which one did they just build? Ugh. Someone needs to write an essay on this and explain everything to me. Anyone?

- I do also believe the Russians should work with the US. Actually, it’s the other way around. I think the Americans are less inclined to work with the Russians then the other way around. Maybe if Daniel was there, he would agree this? Jonas should have been a Russian alien ;) I mean, they work with aliens fine, but Russians no? That’s just quite american-centric to me…

- Ah ha! Very important linguistic skills. If only someone would say that to me!

- Why was Sam so nice in the first scene and now she’s so mean? “General Hammond ordered me to invite you”. She didn’t need to say that!

- If Jonas can learn more quickly, then I want to be Jonas. Short of the Upgrades-armbands, I want to be Jonas. Or McKay.

- Awwwwww, Jonas looks so sad at her rejection! OMG! I don’t remember a thing of this episode.

- Ha, Teal’c wearing some random “Boxing Bears” tshirt :D And I love their little gym room.

- Jack holding Jonas responsible for Daniel’s death and therefore ignoring Jonas. I want fic of this.

- Wow, I need to be influenced by Teal’c’s food choices as well. Except the salt.

- hahaha, “to offset our overwhelming coolness”. “He’s an *alien*…” oops!

- So if Teal’c is speaking to Jack, does that mean Jonas eventually knocked him down?

- Oh poor Teal’c, having to leave his ‘snack’ for an incoming wormhole, which seems to happen quite often as well!

- Awww, Ry’ac! It’s been so long! And crying! And Teal’c’s face! omg! I’m not a big fan of Teal’c family stories, but awww. And Teal’c crying…. always makes me cry.

- Oh my god, Teal’c’s face when Ry’ac threatens to shoot him. It’s so sad! I can’t describe it. It’s just brilliant.

- Lieutenant Graham! Does he still have a crush on Sam? :) (At least I think that’s him?)

- I love Bra’tac. “Fighting a war that appears unwinnable does not make the cause any less noble”.

- Hmm, the music at Drey’auc’s funeral sounds very much like Star Wars, and the scene reminds me a lot of that scene in Star Wars… but I might just

be going crazy.

- Teal’c doesn’t understand why Ry’ac’s acting this way, and Bra’tac has to reassure him. Does Bra’tac have any children? OMG Teal’c makes me cry so much in this episode. His breaking voice when he says “you need never win back my trust, my son, for you have never lost it”. OMG.

- MCKAY! OMG I love McKay’s YOUNG, arrogant self! OMG! I haven’t watched any SG1 episodes with McKay since watching SGA, so pardon my…. squeeing. But OMG MCKAY! He looks like a young adult, a grad student, something just…. adorable!! Wants! Wants! McKay going for a coffee and donut.

- Hahaha, because of the temperature (you can see everyone’s breath fogging up), there is a guy walking behind in a scene where air puffs up from his suit! You can see the puffs going up! Hehe.

- Oh wow, gotta love those sexy suits they put them in. And sure, put the two best people in a dangerous ship. But really, the suits are hideous. Like skeletons…

- “McKay, scientist, Earth.” His *face*. OMG. He looks so small, so young, so vulnerable, his little look to the floor when Hammond’s talking. The way he quickly explains to Jonas what crossing your fingers mean, without even going through the “omg you’re an alien phase”.

- What made McKay change so much from SG1 to SGA?

- Why does it say “caution explosive *bolts*” on the side of the X-302?

- So, people living close to airports, when you hear a very loud, very weird sound? It’s an X-302 taking off.

- I’m not sure about the timeline, so where is Sheppard during that time?

- Oh, McKay’s little worried but waiting for a “I told you so” moment is adorable. Yes, that McKay is just adorable.

- Seriously, why do they need to say “mission failure”? Isn’t it bad enough that they *know* it’s a failure?

Redemption part 2!

(because I seriously don’t have time to be watching this)

- hahahaha, McKay’s “prepare to meet your doom thing”!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love this. We never see that side in Atlantis! His little imitation side ;) “Anubis, this is your agent, you’re playing it way over the top…”. HAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAH OMG David Hewlett I love you. Not to mention that he plays it so…. camp? With his little head twist and everything. This is now how young Rodney looks to me in my head. Not only young, but more camp. Or whatever the right word to use is in this situation!

- Wow, Teal’c is easily manipulated by his son! “You said you did not doubt me!” “Very well…” :P

- “Oh no, I’m rapidly working up to despise!” oh, linguistics!

- HAHAHAHHA even Sam is going into the acting bit! “shouldn’t the EM pulse generator be pointed *at* the gate?”. And Rodney’s response is hilarious.

- I like this expression, “decloaking”. “Rodney, please come here and help me decloak”…

- The problem with having a “zat gun” alert for your email is that now whenver I hear zat guns on the show, I think I’m getting an email. Oh wait! I actually did get one as well! Hahaha. Good timing. Sound camouflage!

- And I thought I was the only one who thought pianist sounded like something else. Oh, and this is where all the parents-fighting background for McKay comes from! Awwwww, Rodney’s little declaration of, well, everything. I *knew* that was why he was always critical and arrogant and everything. I just never knew it was canon :D And do hospital gowns really turn him on?? That *is* creepy… kindof. And very plot-bunny inducing.

- Jonas drinking <strike>coffee</strike> tea, holding his notebook, and staring at the gate! And his little smile of “I just gave you a brilliant idea but I’m not going to mention it”. I think in another universe I might have been Jonas. Misunderstood, unliked by most, not fitting in, weird.

- Oooh! the iris seen up close! weird!

- For such a great and advanced technology, the best way to disable a gate is still to *bury* it??

- Awwww Ry’ac!!! Saving the day!

- Hahahaha, “you really are certifiable lunatic” and “I haven’t slept in 3 days!” Hehehehe. Rodney.

- Wow, that is a really, really cool parachute thing! I have no idea how it should work, but it looks cool. And Hammond’s little pat on Sam’s back :)

- OMG I wasn’t sure if I had dreamed up the fact that Sam actually does like McKay, but I didn’t. Woohoo!! I do like McKay/Sam :D

- I think the SGC should have traded to “save” the Russians from “having” McKay, in exchange for the Stargate. You know…

- Wow, Jack can be *really* mean when he wants to. Just by not saying anything. And then by choosing Jonas just because he doesn’t want the Rusisans? I really hate that Jack has done that. It’s very hypocrite, isn’t it?

Stargate + University = $$$!!

So my project on the comparison of Adria and Jesus? My poster won first place, “Best Overall Poster/Presentation” in the class, which got me 25$ in gift card at Chapters. And I got a 100% grade. All of this? Made me very happy. Very, very happy. Who knew working on Stargate could be so lucrative? (And yes, I know, I just got a much, much bigger scholarship and I’m excited over *25$*. But that’s how life goes, no? You can have a sky-high salary, you’ll still be excited if you find a dollar on the ground. Hey! Free money!).

I also got accepted for my MA at my university, with the admission scholarship (which pays tuition, work as a TA, and a few extra thousand dollars). Yay!!

Which means I’ve been looking at which university to go to if I want to go on to do a PhD. Problem is, I’m still not sure if I want to go in Linguistics, or in some Classics/Near Eastern studies. I can go into linguistics easily, I’ll have my BA in that in a few months, and a MA in the subject in a year, but to go into Classics/etc. would require a few more years of studies because 1) I don’t have a BA or MA in the subject and 2) I haven’t taken Latin yet. :sigh: Basically I want to do historical linguistics, but there’s two ways I could do this: go into Linguistics and concentrate on historical (and I mean very historical – Egyptian, Coptic, other Near Eastern languages, and at the latest, Greek and Latin) linguistics, or go into Classics/Near Eastern Studies and concentrate on the linguistic aspects. And usually one department ignores the other one. Plus, who knew it was such a hassle for international students to study in the US? I thought 5000$ per year was a lot at my home university, but 30,000$ per year at Harvard? Crazy. And NO scholarships for international students. It looks as if there’s barely enough for the US students as it is. Pfft. I’m starting to appreciate Canadian education a lot more!

All of this means I’ve spent the last hours looking at every single US or Canadian university that offers a PhD in Linguistics. Expect an in-depth comparison in a few days, with pros and cons and everything. Yes, procrastination.

Meanwhile, I’m doing my Greek, and really need to catch up on my German. I shall try and read one of those SGA German fanfics, maybe. And possibly cry.

Thoughts on Runner

- I can finally see Parish! Obviously I’d seen him before, but I’d never realised it was him, or that fandom had such great fun to pair him with Lorne. He’s actually cute!

- Lorne doesn’t put a hand on his back or on his shoulder to lead him back to the gate. He actually hooks a finger in his jacket to pull him away. OMG.

- Oh, Sheppard’s little pursed lips, licking his lips, looking down, looking like he’s wondering whether to cry or hit Caldwell… (when he says he should “eliminate the threat”)

- OMG and Caldwell actually brings up Sumner? OMG OMG OMG I so did not remember that (I don’t remember much of the episode), but how more of an ass can you be??

- ooooh…. Elizabeth actually says 26:30 Atlantis time, insinuating that there is actually at least 27 hours in an Atlantis day. Cool!!

- John’s reaction to Teyla when she’s freeing her hands is definitely not conducive to John/Teyla

- Lorne’s “there must have been something keeping Sheppard from shooting you” is very conducive to McShep ;)

- Rodney’s “fine, shoot me!” to Ford, and then that Ford shoots around him, and Rodney’s “are you crazy?? you could have killed me!!”, in light of what he just said, and Ford’s devastated face and his “I’m sorry”, is probably one of my favourite scenes from this episode.

Puddle jumping, Greek + SGA, and thoughts on The Intruder

So there was this headline on the newspaper a few days ago about puddle jumping. What it was? People skating on puddles! I haven’t read the articles yet, but it sure grasped my attention!

Greek : am I the only one that keeps trying to figure out, if SGA was set in Greco-Roman worlds, who would be the lover and who would be the beloved in the homosexual relationships? The greek words are erastes and erastov, I believe, and although I don’t remember which one is which right now, one of them is the older, ‘teacher’ part of the relationship, who teaches the younger one in exchange for sexual favours. Which one would John and Rodney be? Why am I thinking about this during Greek class? And why am I even wondering when I’ll be good enough in Greek to write a (short) fanfiction about these relationships and Rodney and Sheppard, *in* Greek?

And now The Intruder:

-McKay’s look of “omg must put my hand over my mouth right now else I’m gonna say something mean” when Caldwell crushes what he’s saying. Very cute.

- Peter DeLuise is always fun to listen to on commentaries, and him with Gary Jones is even better. I actually enjoyed their singing during the opening credits!

- oooh, Elizabeth blackmailing Landry and Caldwell! *loves*

- What I hate is Sheppard’s “am I the only one who finds it strange we’re working with an alien?”. How much more ethnocentric (I don’t even know which word to use in this case!) can you get? And what about Ronon and Teyla? By definition they are aliens as well. By definition, Sheppard is an alien in Atlantis. Ugh. I do love his little stare, though.

- Lindstrom’s death is awful. I would not want to feel what he must have felt right before the doors open. I probably would have died of fright before I even got into outer space. And Rodney’s lower lip shaking is adorable.

- One of my favourite Carson scenes is the one where he’s deciding who to hire and he feels like everyone’s more qualified than he is (boy do I know how that feels), and Elizabeth has to reassure him.

- Oh I knew I knew Simon from somewhere! The Tollan guy! Oh my…. Tollan guy’s going with Elizabeth instead of Carter? Oh boy….

- Crap indeed!!!!!!

- John’s scene with Aiden’s cousin is also wonderful. The fact that Aiden mentioned him in the tape… John’s face when he hears that… the cousin giving him a guilt trip that I’m sure he’s already feeling…

- “I’ll check the rest later” :D But can anyone tell me why, if he was beamed out sitting down, he gets beamed in standing? I always feel like there should be some awkward moment where he falls down because he has to adjust to the different position. Oh, and DeLuise feels the same way!

- The John Sheppard book of computer repairs. Please, has anyone written something about that?

Ok, I got distracted for the rest of the episode. Next!

Thoughts while watching Siege Part 3

Not much here. But where else would I squee?

- You know, I love Ford. He’s so….. honest. Well that’s not the right word. Earnest, maybe? See-through? You can tell when he gets excited and he’s transparent (“you got a little what? you got a little what??”), and you can tell when he’s scared (like when he’s surrounded by those wraith guards in Siege 2/3).

- McKay’s little “falling asleep” after learning John’s alive, and *then*, when he jumps up “present, yes” and flutters his eyelashes? Adorable.

- Because I’ve read too many fics, every time I see Rodney looking at a ZPM, I think “so that’s how he must look when he looks at John”. Oh boy. Fanon anyone?

- The Marks guy on the Daedalus? Very cute.

- I love John’s reaction to hearing Atlantis is still there. All out of breath like he was holding his breath.

- The infirmary scene with Everett is heartbreaking. Totally heartbreaking. I think it’s the perfect show of emotions and of military-induced stoicism ‘I’ve said what I have to say’, and John saluting, and Everett’s hand shaking, omg… I hated Everett, but I loooove this scene.

Thoughts while watching The Siege part 2

The greatest thing about bringing your laptop to school is finding out you left your SGA dvd in it and that you have a three hour break between classes. I swear I tried working, but there’s an hour left and well….

- At about 1:35 in, when Weir says “it doesn’t change the fact we’re out of options” (or something like that) and then “unless you have any more ideas”, she looks at Rodney like she’s blaming him for Grodin, and then Sheppard winces and looks like he’s feeling bad for Rodney. Or at least that’s how I saw the scene.

- Joe Flanigan acts with his mouth. I mean, every expression, hint of emotion, etc. comes from a movement in his mouth. Pursing his lips, licking his lips… Not that I’m complaining.

- Really, you need the gene to operate the life-signs detector? I had no idea. It makes sense.

- Little detail that makes me go squee: when Rodney and Radek are testing the puddle jumper’s remote control, right after Weir’s hostage/negotiation scene, Rodney is sitting on the floor, and he gets up to run a test, he *picks up his gun and brings it to the console a few feet beside where he was*. Like he’s bracing himself to being attacked, being ready. Like PTSD or something. Because Rodney being this prepared with weapons seems a bit strange. But it’s awesome. Oh, David Hewlett actually mentions how he had to carry it around and it was annoying. And he’s talking to Carson while pointing the P90 at him! Ha! Hewlett says it’s a “very McKay” thing. Really? Then “I’m the only one that carries a gun everywhere. I’m the only one that doesn’t know how to use it. “ Hehehe. So true! I need a fic about this!

-I love the scene where Rodney just sits down and starts falling asleep.

- “We’re building nuclear bombs here. Staying awake is sort of a prerequisite.”

- “So long, Rodney” *sob* That always gets me.

- Cool, they have stunt wraiths!!

- Sheppard looks terrified, in the puddle jumper. Poor guy.

Off to watch Siege 3!

Thoughts on The Gift

Again, my random thoughts while watching The Gift with the audio commentary on. Some fanon vs. canon things!

- As random as it is, I love Peter DeLuise and Gary Jones together. They have such great banter!

- Peter DeLuise just almost canonized Teyla/Kate!! He said something along the lines of “now Teyla, she understood that Kate was checking out her butt” :D

- Was Sheppard awake, once he turned around in his bed? It looked like his eyes were open. I wonder if he meant himself, when he said “you’re not the only one” to Teyla (re: having nightmares about the wraith).

- Rodney cries in therapy!! When Teyla opens the door and he is there, he’s holding a tissue to his eyes!! It also looks from his stance that he’s composing himself before leaving Kate’s office. Now that is something canon that we don’t see much in fanfic!! Also, the fact that Sheppard obviously likes/respects Kate and probably doesn’t see anything wrong with seeing her, since he tells her about Teyla. That is also something canon we don’t see in fanfic. In fanfic, everyone is reluctant to see Kate, Rodney and Sheppard included.

- I also love how Rodney doesn’t know which way to go, when he leaves Kate’s office.

- There’s a bed in Kate’s office. Is it also her bedroom?

- The view out of Kate’s office/bedroom is beautiful!

- Hahaha. “…your superpowers” “I only have one.” “I’ve seen you fight, my dear”. I love Beckett.

- Oh, Ford. “You got a little what?” and he looks so damn happy teasing him in that way!! He’s adorable! Even though it is immature (still makes me laugh), and I don’t understand why Sheppard isn’t laughing since he usually finds that kind of things funny (or so I think… might be fanon). I guess he has to stay all mature and serious while in leading mode.

- “Just so you know, you didn’t actually finish that sentence out loud, you know” (or something like that). Great line. I have to remember to say that next time someone doesn’t finish their sentence out loud!

- Seriously, I don’t think even Elizabeth can translate Wraith so quickly, the first time she sees it. I know it’s similar to Ancient, and graphically it does look similar (I noticed that before they said it! yay!), but I mean, translate a new language so quickly? Please.

- Sheppard looks very…. earnest when he tells Beckett “hey, I thought we weren’t gonna mention this”. Why would he really want to ignore it? In front of Beckett and Weir? In a serious situation?

-I love how Teyla’s sitting in Kate’s office, her legs crossed. It looks so comfortable and so un-Teyla-like. I guess it shows how she’s getting more comfortable with Kate.

- We’ve never heard the Wraith language be spoken aloud. How does it sound? Does it sound similar to Ancient? I have trouble imagining the Wraith speaking something that sounds like Latin. I guess it’s a cultural connotation, how “noble” and “good” = latin and “sadistic” and “bad” = goa’uld (with harsh sounds, lots of consonants, etc.). Maybe it’s a remnant of a religious phenomenon? Latin is equated with christianity and is therefore good?

- The story of how Rainbow got the part? Hilarious!

- “We all call them names from Sesame Street” – so that’s where the Wraith names come from!

- I love how Teyla’s wearing earth running shoes. When did she get that? I guess she doesn’t like the boots to wear inside Atlantis. It doesn’t do very “Athosian” though!

- The fact that Ford is at Teyla’s bedside? The cutest thing ever!!!

- Anyone notice that Beckett’s computer has a big, red button for zapping Teyla? I wonder how often he uses that on patients!

SGA – McKay and self-hatred

So I was listening to the Gateworld Interviews on my mp3 while walking to the bus stop/riding the bus, and the interviews with David Hewlett were incredibly interesting. He was mentioning how McKay hates himself so much that it’s hard for him to imagine anyone being able to love him, and later he mentioned his insecurities, and that really struck a cord. I never really saw McKay as having so much self-hatred. I guess I must have known – he’s quite surprised in Tao of Rodney “you love me? really?” – but it never really clicked. And now while cleaning up a folder (I keep saving Stargate pictures into my pidgin & creole folders, for some subconscious reason probably) I noticed a picture from Tabula Rasa, and remembered that I read over the weekend that one of the things written on Rodney’s arm is “USUCK” in Ancient (it’s in the first first scene, where he’s sitting at the table). Apart from the obvious joke for all of us Ancient-reading folks (I’m still learning my alphabet, but it’s now a necessity for my Languages of Stargate research paper… the hardship of research!), why would Rodney have written that on himself? Since he retains the ability to read and write in spite of his amnesia, he would probably remember how to read ancient. Plus, this is *before* he starts writing things down on his arm to remember them later (“avoid soldiers” “little guy with glasses” and other funny things…. although looking at the screencaps on Gateworld right now, I can’t really read *what* will die…. on his right forearm), which he writes in English. So why? Why would he write demeaning things on his arm, in such dire circumstances, when time is short? I’ll have to rewatch the episode to make sure I didn’t miss anything, because it might be important – it is clearly visible in the first scene, after all.

This is the first time I notice something interesting and ‘meta’ on SG… and I bet someone else did before me (obviously someone noticed it before me, but did they think about it as much as I did?). I also wonder if they talk about it on the commentary, but I don’t have Season 4 on DVD. Anyone?

On a random note, I wish I could choose between names – McKay or Rodney, John or Sheppard, but I just seem to use them interchangeably. Is it annoying? It’s weird to me.

Thoughts on Conversion

I absolutely was not going to watch this episode (it’s one of my favourites, of course, but I was concentrating on watching old episodes I haven’t seen in a while), but then on the DVD I saw it was with Flanigan AND Hewlett. How could I pass the chance??

- Hahaha, Hewlett. “Joe’s nightmare. Him in ,ortal pain, and me in the background. Acting”

- Joe’s imitation of Carson is adorable. End of gratuitous comment.

- Is it just me or John didn’t lose that much blood? I mean I don’t remember for any other injuries, but the arm wasn’t all that bad…

- Oh I never get tired of the stick fights. Wait, I just called it stick fighting like the people in the commentaries. Not fair. But I think it looks incredibly sexy, on all sexes.

- Hahaha. The fact that Rachel’s parents were there is hilarious.

- I find it very hard to identify David’s voice when I can’t see his face. It’s weird.

- I love Weir’s solitaire playing!

- My eternal question. How do you know who you’re talking to on the radio? Who you’re calling? Is it mentally linked or something? Or does everyone hear everyone calling and then only one person answers? I HAVE TO KNOW.

- I love how Sheppard compares himself to Ford.

- The comments on that meeting room with Lorne and everything is hilarious. How the rods things could be canons, but I see it as some kind of sex room. Seriously.

- “I should go back to the infirmary.” Very cute. Resignation is always cute.

- If Caldwell’s ‘office’ is Sheppard’s office, then I understand why he’s never there. It’s quite a cozy corner, but I mean, it’s a corner. At least it’s out of the view. Not like Elizabeth’s office. Can’t have easy sex in that one!

- Hahaha, Sheppard has a skateboard. Awesome. And I love how he puts his shoes on the bottom of his night table.

- “Rony senses”. Now I just imagine that Sheppard actually calls him Rony. Instead of Chewie, you know.

- I love Sheppard’s black shirt. Seriously.

- How come the team’s not waiting in the infirmary, but actually in the mess? Fanon vs. Canon!!

- Joe’s impression of Ronon is hilarious. “Can I spin this fork? How about this chair, can I spin this chair? Can I spin David?”

- Teyla’s face at the end is always priceless. Really.

Thoughts while watching “Trinity”

I actually only saw this episode once, and a while back, so it’s all new watching it. I’m disappointed the commentary is with the writers and not the actors, but it does give some insight so it’s interesting all the same. As usual, I’m watching it with the captions to follow the story and the audio tuned into the commentary. So on to my thoughts:

- John’s face right after Rodney says “get me Opticon (…) and Zelenka if he’s over the stomach flu” is positively endearing. He looks like he’s a kid on the verge of crying and saying “ewwww” at the same time. Adorable. Really. If I could screencap, I would, although it’s such a dynamic thing. I don’t know why I’m fixating on it so much.

- Physics textbooks sitting around in his bedroom? *looks to my bookshelf* Oops! Ok so I haven’t read them in ages because it still hurts to much to think of what I could have become, but still, I’m keeping them and yes, I will read them again.

- Who’s Dr. Vogel and what’s his fascination with pastries? I herefore assume that it’s Rodney’s name for his penis. His own! Not John’s. Tsk.

- John looks so young in this episode. And quite feline. And his smile when Rodney says he’ll give him a hint? ADORABLE. And so totally not him, it seems. But still adorable.

- As one of the commentators say, Zelenka’s little eyebrow raise is also quite adorable and a bit scary, in a pedophiliac way…

- I love how Teyla can totally be bigger than Ronon, even though she’s so much smaller physically. She rulez.

- Yes, Rodney’s smile in the jumper when they come back from the outpost? Beautiful.

- I would love to have a foam model of Atlantis for my bathtub. No, even better: some of those rubber decals to put on the bathtub floor so you don’t slip and fall during your shower, but Atlantis-shaped. And puddle-jumper shaped. OMG yes.

- The scene in Elizabeth’s office? John looks like he’s getting very excited (not in a sexual sense, sheesh!) about Rodney being excited, but trying not to show it. “Awww ain’t he adorable when he acts like this? I mean, I’m military officer, I’m listening to what he’s saying, of course, of course”.

- Ok. If I’m not mistaken, I just heard one of the commentators (I think it was Kindler or whatever his name is) say that Rodney must “sit down and get into bed with the military”. I swear I heard that.

- Ha! Dr. Vogel is actually the German interviewer Vogel! hehehehehe. Mystery solved, but less interesting than my version.

- Ronon’s self-hugging when he hears about others is heart melting.

- Solen (is that his name?) is funny, “you’re not alone!!!” he looks like a SGA fan squeeing like “there’s other fans like me!”

- “I always pick the good-looking, non-descript farmboy to die, don’t I?” Farmboy??

- Shit, and out of Sheppard, Zelenka and Rodney, no one thinks about Collins?? Poor guy.

- “And I am responsible for his death. Yes, and I am painfully aware of that. I sent him in there and I will have to live with that for the rest of my life.” Poor, poor Rodney. And I love how his voice cracks. The way he says it, it almost sounds like he’s echoing John’s “I’ll have to live with that bullet” comment from the pilot.

- Hahaha, Teyla helping Ronon walk….. story of my life, being 4’11”. She’s so cute. And OMG Ronon was so going to cry. OMG OMG OMG.

- Seriously, John, why are you already so pissed at Rodney? Why won’t he let him in? The commentary mentions someone (Gero, I think), pantless, in his room ;) But I love John’s “no” at coming in. It really looks like it’s all a power struggle, Rodney figuratively sleeping on the couch.

-I love the “hotdog big”. :D

- I love how when John is frowning and then stops frowning, his hair kind of moves back on his forehead on its own. It’s funny.

- “I know Rodney McKay and I have to protect him from himself.” “I can do that.” Awwwwwwwwww. Sheppard will protect McKay from himself.

- Wow, John’s face when Rodney’s saying “keep the hot coffee coming”, it looks amazing, because you can see that he’s thinking “how DARE he do that??”

- Hahahaha. “I don’t think it matters how much cake you walk on.” THANK YOU RADEK. I hate that expression and I never understood it. Now I will use Radek’s response. Much more suitable!

- I love Rodney and John’s bickering. It is amazing how much John has to trust Rodney in this, and how it must HURT to be let down afterwards. It’s not Rodney’s fault, he thought he could do it, but still.

- I love how Sheppard can stay ahead of McKay and can follow what he says, just as well as if it had been Zelenka there with him.

- It’s also good that Rodney listens to Sheppard without complains when he says “Shut it down”.

- Wow, the natives’ guns when Ronon kills Kell! Like, three bullets every shot?

- I love Teyla and how she goes against Ronon. “You used me to kill an innocent man.” I love her. As much as I hate her often, I still love her. And I love her “let’s not tell the others”. And her “if you ever use my friendship again….”

- The gun on Doranda? Looks like a giant bug on the roof.

- “I’ve seen this before, Rodney, pilots who wouldn’t eject when something went wrong, trying to fix their planes right until it hit the ground.” Aww, John.

- John says “Strap in”. What kinds of straps are in the puddle jumpers? I always wondered…

- “Rodney, shut up!” Oh, so much angst.

- Sheppard purposefully avoids Rodney! But I love their little discussion. “I intend on being right again. About everything.” And Sheppard’s little slump when he enters the transporter and Rodney doesn’t take the hint? Priceless.

- As someone who’s heard the “you lost my trust” speech, I know it fucking hurts. But I love how Sheppard says it, making it obvious that he’s pissed but at the same time there’s still hope for it.

SGA: Identity

Ok, seriously, how can they not realize that is not dr. Keller?

As much as I hate McKeller, I love how sweet Rodney is. Very naive, but very sweet. At least he didn't actually drive Neeva to the mainland. That would have been very silly. Yet, this episode would be much better if Neeva was replaced by John. Now that would be very nice :) John nagging Rodney for a ride on the mainland (although roles would be reversed for that, surely!)...

Yay! A link to SG-1! Now this really feels like a spin-off series and not something totally different that happens to have a stargate ;)

Rodney does seem to be in a better mood now that he's with Jennifer. Oh no, I really hope I'm not starting to agree to that pairing... what a way to threaten my OTP! Oh, gosh, Jennifer is even more whiny than Rodney... nope, no problem to my OTP. I don't like her. I like her effect on Rodney, but that's all.

You can always count on Sheppard to state the obvious and pressing issues of "where is Keller?". Hmm, she does look very very hot in that leather dress!

I really think Ronon should take Keller. They had so much chemistry together and they would go so well together. Leave Rodney for John.

"He complains a lot" "Only when he's awake"
John does not seem happy with the McKeller. I tend to agree with him. I need some jealous!John stories... Oh, and John seems to know from experience that Rodney does not complain when he's sleeping. Hence he's been sleeping with him (take that in any sense you want).

I do like the fact that Jennifer is genuinely scared. It's nice to see someone (other than Rodney, let's say) have some real emotions that, say, a normal person would have in a situation of impending execution. Or in seeing the location of your impending execution.

Chewie!! And Ronon knows exactly he's talking to him! Oh no... now I'm getting some ideas of John/Ronon... oh no... now that's something I never thought about but... hmmm...

Hahaha. Rodney pushing Carson and they just being stuck in a pile against a tree. That would happen to me.

Hahahaha. I love the way Jennifer looked at herself! I'm really glad they're finally "reunited" because I was getting tired of all of this.

Yes, Jennifer you can do better! Well, no, technically I love Rodney, but I'll do anything for her to decide to go with Ronon ;)

Great, now I'm getting confused as to who's who. Of course someone was gonna get caught.

Poor Rodney. Two of his friends get shot/stabbed inside of what, one day? I like how Sheppard takes charge and decides it's time for threats. Where did they find a bedpan? I doubt they would carry a full-size, stainless steel bedpan with them in the field!

I love dr. Beckett. Yeah, he can be quite weird and all, but he's still my favourite doctor. In Atlantis. Aww, Beckett. I love you. Oh, and Zelenka. I love you too. Hahaha. Speaking in Czech and Beckett agreeing!!

Beurk. :: gag :: I don't want McKeller in my show!

Conclusion: there is no conclusion. There is no point. I did not like this episode but I guess it was better than I expected because I thought Neeva was an earthling and was working for the CIA or something. That would have been even worse.

SGA 5x16 Brainstorm

So I'm watching this ep with very negative expectations from what I can gather from the teasers, and what I got from the reactions of other LJers. Let's see how it turns out.
Sorry if my quotes are not exact, I always have trouble understanding the subtleties of english tv shows. I usually need the captioning! So there will probably be mistakes. Sometimes for the best :P

Sheppard pointing out Rodney and Jennifer at the table. fans read: Ronon, you know about our secret relationship, do you think I am safe with him or will he betray me for her?
Ronon: you're a much better candidate and he is just showing off to keep your relationship *secret*. Plus, he's not getting her if I have my say in it.

then...
Rodney: one of my old ....... guy who was doing his doctorate ...
am I the ONLY one that filled that hesitation with "boyfriend" or something like that? Come on, I can NOT be the only one!!

Rodney: there's this perception out there that I'm, uh.... fans read: GAY???
I swear that's what he meant.

It really IS a "high school reunion" episode. Guh...

Awwww, Rodney's "d'you wanna come to this thing with me?" is soooo cute.

I want a plane ride like that! That is way better than first class...

And Rodney not eating strawberries? One more canon proof of "don't like fruits, allergic to citrus, so chocolate and cakes are better".

Oh, Jennifer. How I hate you sometimes. "Bad mood"???? Rodney is not in a bad mood. He's in a good mood. He's just his usual complaining self. I actually consider him to be quite nice there!

The exterior view of that complex really reminds me of The Sims 2.

Dinosaurs? Rodney is such a kid. I bet he has some toy dinosaurs back in Atlantis, for the Athosian kids of course, and he plays with it and Sheppard walks in on him once... and joins him...
But with everything Rodney has seen in Pegasus, the best thing he can come up with is living dinosaurs? I mean, that's not too far off, right? I bet Jurassic Park is a favourite of him...

oh, Rodney is so right. Saying Pluto is not a planet made a lot of people cry. *cough* Not me, of course...

If only the lectures I go to had such cool rooms, with theater seats?

Jennifer, I hate you. Hate, hate, hate you.

Rodney, I love, love, love you. "Humble? I guess I can try everything once."

Rodney's point about flying them in a private jet is very good...

Ironic how Rodney comments on the other guy's Ego?

Rodney's little concentrated, intrigued look is adorable.

Oh man. Poor Rodney. I can feel his pain :S His dilemma is so awful. He *knows* it's wrong but he can't say anything. I know I would probably have thrown the classified stuff out the window by then!

Hmm, I like Jennifer's boots. But really? Sheppard is SO, SO better for Rodney. His reaction would have been so much better to Rodney's "this is my work".

Atlantis' radios are much better than theirs. Damn right, it's better than theirs....

I love the security guy's height. Makes me feel better about being so short ;)

That he's gone Howard Hughes?? Hahahahaha. Now I need to compare that!

Ok, so I don't understand. Rodney writes papers, publishes them to the government, and the whole government can read it, but he can't even write his name on it?

Freeze lightning? That sounds like video games. Diablo, for example...

I do like Jennifer's hair. I wish mine was like that.

Oh, I wish I had the transcript for this episode.

That guy is such an asshole! Freeze lightning? Rodney just copyrighted that!

The solution to global warming? Global freezing!

At least while they're all fighting together they're not worrying about the impending freezing death.

Haha, Jennifer, clapping your hands. That was cute. But, 6th graders? I'd say more high school, but yeah. I could do without her philosophical speech, though. It was just a bit too... predictable?

Rodney raising his hand? Worth the whole episode ;)

Jennifer's speech of "it's no less noble to save a hundred" is much better.

Jennifer, weren't you listening when they told you about megastorms? Tsk tsk tsk.

Jennifer is quite hot in that suit!

Jeannie is so, so better/cuter than Jennifer! Come on guys!

Yes, Rodney, take charge! Yes!

I am waiting for a fic where Sheppard scolds Rodney, kind of "I let you out of my sight to EARTH and you get into more danger than among a wraith ship??"

These freezing, "I can see my breath" scenes are reminding me of Titanic.

"Difficult takes a few seconds, impossible, a few minutes." Someone must make an icon of this. NOW.

Awww. "You're smarter than me." "I know." and he runs away? As much as I hate Jennifer, that was incredibly brave, especially considering his massive ego. Usually that scene would have ended with Rodney giving up and staying.

Please, let them not strip Jennifer naked and propose to let their body heat mix...

Rodney sounded like he was crying while doing CPR. Cute. Jennifer is oddly fine, strong and clear-headed for someone who was just clinically dead.

Jennifer's quoting Rodney's video was sweet, though.

They're just back in the plane with wool blankets? No hospital checkups? WTF?

Rodney is honest, that is good. Very, very good. Hahahahahaha. Rodney's face was cute cute cute cute cute cute when he realised what Jennifer was saying.

That last scene was cute. I hate the McKeller, but it was cute. Jennifer's look was cute. But of course it would have been so much better if it had been Sheppard.

There was absolutely not enough team in this episode. Definitely.

4x20 The Last Man - ideas during rewatch

Well I've been watching that and some ideas popped into my head, mostly of missing scenes that people should write.

- the seven hours while John is unconscious. I mean, what must have been going on in Rodney's AI head during that time??

- so many McShep things in this. It's hard to explain, but the way John immediately tries to touch Rodney when he sees him. The way he reacts when Rodney tells him he got with Jennifer...

-when I first saw this Rodney/Jennifer thing, I actually didn't help it, probably because John was out of the picture. I think that's what made it okay.

-"I don't have any regrets." "But I do– a whole boatload of ‘em. I wanna do something about it." oh Rodney.

-I love Rodney's new office/home, and the way he's dressed so casually (pyjamas?) while working :)

-Lorne's painting of Atlantis!! I love him!

-The USAF uniforms have changed? The ensigns and medals seem more Star Trekkie...

-For some reason I really like John's facial expressions. And the way he has to change the subject to inconsequential things like sports winners to not have to say goodbye.

-I love John in his sandy uniform. Lovely :)

-Oh, and what would Rodney think/do during the twelve days John was missing?

-How well did Rodney describe the room where Teyla was found? How could he recognize that room? They all look exactly the same. And retro.

Back into SG/SGA fandom....

I will definitely try and write in here more, in the random chance that someone is reading. I've been commenting a lot (I try to comment on every story I read and enjoy, but I'm not that good... yet) and in case someone comes to check my lj out to see if I'm worth talking to, well... I don't want to scare them away too, too much. Yes, I'm emo. Well, not really, but mental illness obliges. I've been really well lately (as in the past year) so it's not much of an issue on this lj anymore. Soooo I've rather become obsessed with Stargate Atlantis. And I mean, so obsessed it hurts and I don't have time to watch all the episodes I want to, and read everything I want to, and write everything I want to.

I've also discovered podfics which are the next best thing after the internet. Possibly.

I think I'll start recommending fics for my own reference. I found out that recs are very useful in going through a million fics.

Also, is the SGA fandom made only of slashers? I'm all for McShep, but I'm kindof wondering where everything else is? Or is that the downside of browsing one lj to another through the flist, staying in the same 'circle'? I feel like the SGA fandom is a close-knit group of maybe 20 people who all know each other, and I don't think I'll ever be able to be accepted in it!

But what's even more interesting is the sociolinguistic depth of fandom. Such a special language and I'm starting to understand it. I want to write my Master thesis on the sociolect of the Stargate fandom. Think anyone would finance that?

Jack/Daniel/Ba'al dream - stargate fandom...

I had the weirdest dream. My friend and I were planning a threesome between Jack, Daniel, and Ba'al. Jack and Daniel, sure. But Ba'al? And why would I be dreaming about Ba'al? Anyway, Jack and Daniel were categorically refusing (as if they would ever do that, lol), and in an uncharacteristic way, I asked Ba'al if he would have said yes, had they agreed. He looked pensive in that Ba'al way, and then simply said yes, and that made me and my friend's day.
Weeeeiiiird. It was very vivid, and quite interesting. Such a shame it didn't work out :P

Spoilers for Stargate - season 7 and 8 or something, from the Stargate Magazine (which I bought in Montreal yesterday, yippy yay!!!)

GENERAL HAMMOND IS LEAVING???????
JACK IS BECOMING GENERAL????????
SAM IS COLONEL???????????
Oh boy.
I learned lots of stuff just by reading the character articles in that magazine..... having seen only half of the season 7 eps (awaiting my birthday gift of the dvds for next week) and none of 8, this was really new. I can see General Hammond leaving, although that would be as sad as the actual George Hammond I indirectly knew dying (from cancer a few months back). I can see Jack becoming a general, but not leaving the team! As many stories I read some years back, "SG-1 minus 1 isn't SG-1" and stuff like that. It's just not the same. Of course I'll most likely like the team anyway, but it's not as cool..... and Sam leading the team? That's just too weird. I love Sam as a CO, but I don't know how she'll do as an XO. She is the only female role model I've had that really influenced me. Maybe that will help me even more, lol. Anyway, those are my ?????? and !!!!!!!!! for the day. I'm still working on pulling my jaw back together......
I'm off checking out the clothing from www.fansofstargate.com because there's a shirt I really want.

Still trying to reach Ottawa U to get my navigator to work. If not then I'll be faxing something soon because I really don't want to be stuck changing my schedule again. It's very nice the way it is right now.

Tonight there's a fashion show at school. I'm not sure yet if I'm gonna go, but it should be fun if I do go. I have tons of homework to do and so I'll be working on that intensively until supper time. I should be able to finish most of it, I think.... I hope!

Listened to Jean Leloup's new CD.... not as bad as I originally thought he was. I had actually only heard one or two or his songs and had labeled him in the "sucky" section of my head, but now I've definitely changed my mind :)

Will try to call again. ::sigh:: Wish me luck!

This is how it's supposed to be. I know I have work to do, and I'm slowly doing it, and yes I'd rather be doing something else, but I'm not... well, first of all I'm not crying over it, second I'm not depressing over it, and third I'm not feeling as if all of this was impossible to do. And I have a hell lot to do. Maybe it's just because I'm actually doing it today and I know there's always tomorrow if I screw up something. Maybe it's because it's still early, and nobody's there to stress me further. Maybe it's just because I've relaxed at my grandmother's. Maybe it's because of the sun. Maybe... well, I don't know. But I wish it was always like this. I'm actually productive!

I liked the Jack caption.... ;P

Tonight is my last German course... and I might have to go alone :( And it will eat up another 3 hours of homework and ::sigh:: Stargate downloading. Then I will stay awake for a very long time. Which might be shorter if I actually worked *now*. Oh, but I did work at the office, and got my pay :) I'm happy now. My 35 cents raise change only a bit, but it makes me feel like I'm richer.
I still have only 0% of Lost City part 1. It's been 15 minutes. And my computer is fast. So is my internet. So is my will. So go! download!! lol.

I found the French equivalent for "fine": "Soit". Sure, it sounds like 15th century french, but still, it's a good equivalent. I'll make sure to use that with my teachers so they can see how well I speak :)

I'm going to work now. Nuclear and wind energy, here I come!

Can you use "I" in essays? Can you talk about yourself? What's an essay anyway? I remember them from last semester's course, yeah, but is it all formal? Shit. I knew I should have done this sooner! I have to write a 800 words essay, half in French, half in English (who knew writing in two languages could be *so* difficult!!), about my conception of bilingualism and multiculturalism. My conception? Clearly, my conception, or my conception expressed without "we" and "I", as in a French dissertation?
This is difficult. And I only have... barely two days to do this. And I won't get it because I don't have a 92% plus average. Why am I bothering? I don't know. Maybe because I don't know what to write about the importance of studying in French. This should be fairly easy, but it isn't. Grrrrr.
